NH Hotel Group is one of the top hotel companies worldwide. In the 2010s it faced challenging times driven by multiple factors, both internal and external. The company had divergent views in its board, had expanded into countries and cities with little strategic rationale and the financial crisis wasn’t helping. NH wrote a strategic plan that they used to convince investors to turn around the company.

NH built a strategic plan that started by assessing the company’s initial situation and aligning the company towards the same objectives. They then focused on a set of initiatives that addressed both the internal and external pressures that the company was facing. The case of NH illustrates how, without a well-defined vision and strategic plan, companies can be brought to the verge of bankruptcy.
