The case examines the launch of Glovo in 2015, and the incorporation of several features in an agile way until 2018. The case also illustrates some of the main financial, strategic and legal, legal challenges that the company faced.

Glovo is an app that launched in Spain in 2015. By 2018 it had already ~1000 employees and had powerful investors backing the company, such as Seaya Ventures or Rakuten capital.

The company had grown in a very agile way, entering different markets and securing partnerships with global companies such as McDonalds.

 

The case can be used in courses on strategy to illustrate the concept of strategic agility. It shows how Glovo had a more agile approach compared to formal strategic planning processes, and what steps it took to pivot their product and enter new markets.
